Linen love list

It’s been a minute between blog posts, I know. But something I’d love to make more time for this year is more regular blog posts about stuff you guys find helpful! First up for 2020 is a round up of my favourite linen bedding because ever since I bought mine last year I don’t know if I could ever go back! There are so many different beautiful colours too to suit many a dreamy boudoir.

Bed Threads

First up, I can’t help but be bias and share my own luxe white linen from @bed.threads. I’ve been really impressed with the quality, and their actual packaging was so nice too! Can highly recommend these guys, as even my partner noticed how soft and comfortable they are to sleep against.

I Love Linen

Another equally lovely linen merchant is @ilovelinen. Absolutely adore the colours they stock too. So many dreamy bedfits to collect. I think my faves are their peach, orange and rust vibes. So many shades mix and match seamlessly.

Dazed but Amazed

This next brand is for those of you that love supporting locals! @dazedbutamazed hand dye their pure french linens down under. What’s more, they produce some limited edition colours and prints for those of you that like to be a little different.

Kate James Studios

Another gorgeous brand, with a chic neutral palette to choose from. I think all @katejames.studios colours are lovely, but the shade ‘sand’ is probably my pick from these guys.

Dos Ombre

These guys make such beautiful linen wares. I have some white linen cushions from them, but no bedding (yet!). When I have a bit more room to splurge, these ones below are high on my wishlist! Really love @dos_ombre for so much more than just their bedding.

Beachgoth

While their name might make you think of someone inappropriately dressed for the beach, hear me out. They’re not really a linen brand, but the bedding they make is super unique so I had to include them on my list! Check out @beachgoth for some cool, earthy prints and patterns.

Finding all the untagged things ‘n’ stuff

We’ve all seen a post and thought “omg I love that *insert thing* so much! I wonder where it’s from?” *clicks to see tagged accounts* and the one thing in the photo you want to know where it’s from isn’t tagged. If you’re really desperate you might do a quick google, or leave a comment asking the person where said item is from. But more often than not your comment gets buried beneath hundreds of other comments and goes unanswered.

Helping you avoid that dilemma is something I’m kind of pretty passionate about! I don’t mean to brag but I think my stalking skills are next level. Sometimes I spend way more time than I’d care to admit scouring the internet to find an untagged item, and I’m successful more often than not! Even if I can’t find the exact brand, I can usually find something close. Anyway, as this was actually the most requested blog post of the options I suggested on my insta story, here we go. I’ve picked the gorgeous bedroom of @lisadanielle__ to deconstruct into a list for you guys.

3 tips when redecorating your home

Redecorating should be fun right?! You get to recreate your space just the way you like it! You can make it perfectly reflect your own style, make it comfy and functional, and somewhere you feel relaxed when you come home at the end of a busy day. Then why does it feel like redecorating is one of the most difficult, drawn out, impossible processes on the plant?!? (or maybe it’s just me?) but seriously it can be so darn frustrating when every room is half finished, or just isn’t turning out quite how you plan, or maybe it feels like it’s costing you a fortune. Well I feel your pain, and I’ve come up with a few handy tips to help bring back the enjoyment in redecorating.

1. Gather and organise your interior inspo

I’m sure most of you are already doing the gathering part, but I can’t recommend the organising part of this step enough. If you’ve got a heap of interior inspo for your home, you need to go ahead and organise it. Pinterest boards or saved folders on Instagram are a great way of doing this, but find whatever works for you. I like to organise my Pinterest boards by room, for example bedroom, bathroom, kitchen etc (you get the idea). I find it helps to get images of rooms that you love, but then also particular items that you want to incorporate into each room. So for the lounge room it could be a rug that you love, some particular occasional chairs, and some cushions. Go ahead and add images of these single items. It really helps to visualise not only the general style, but how the specific items you’re thinking of purchasing will look together!

2. Keep, sell, donate, or chuck it

Not everything you incorporate into your newly designed space needs to be new. Of the furniture and decor that you already own, it’s a great idea to go through it with a Mari Kondo-style ruthlessness. Of the things you currently own, what do you love and know will still work in the new space? Keep those things. If you can find images of them and add them into the appropriate inspo room board. Then, which things do you no longer want, like or won’t match the new space? Give these away to charity, or friends and family, sell them or throw them out. Removing these items can declutter not only the space, but your creative mind. Once you are left with only then things you love, then you can start thinking about buying stuff.

3. Focus on one space at a time

Now that you’re ready to start buying the items, it can be easy to very quickly feel overwhelmed! Going to the shops and browsing stores is not only time consuming but you can get distracted from your plan, and end up impulse buying stuff that looks good in the store, but then doesn’t match the aesthetic at home, or just isn’t quite right! You can end up with all these things that don’t make you feel like you’ve made any progress on redecorating at all. The key is planning, and focusing on one space at a time. You made your boards for each room for a reason! Now use them as a kind of list to focus on ‘completing’ one room before moving on to another. For instance, with our bathroom, I’ve only allowed myself yo purchase things for this room. And it’s working! I’m much clearer on exactly the items I want, and the things that will complete the room. It also helps with budgeting, as you can total up the costs once you are set on the exact items you need.

Top picks for the dreamiest arch mirrors

Recently I posted a shot from the dreamy home of @elisecook featuring a stunning rattan arch floor length mirror. Seeing as I would love to have one similar in my own home, I’ve rounded up my favourites (because, well you asked but I kinda love hunting out the goods for you guys!).

So without further adieu, numero uno is the exact beauty featured in my Instagram post from @hellotrader . The sahara arch mirror. Unfortunately, it appears to be sold out at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled. These guys often seem to restock popular items. If you can’t wait, they do have the smaller version; the sahara midi arch mirror. Or if you’re really set on a full height one (for outfit selfies etc) then read on.

The next pick is the zali arch mirror by @harvestdesignliving. Equally as lovely, this one is also rattan framed but with soft, rounded edges and a thicker frame. If you love this one, I’d suggest you get in quick though. This piece is not mass produced, so theres a limited number handcrafted by artisans. I also think the price point on this piece is super friendly!!

Taking spot number three on the list is the metal framed arched floor mirror by @westelmaus. If you’re after more of a modern look, the pretty golden frame will certainly give any nook a dreamy, finished feel. Again, the price point is pretty good on this piece too. I like that it can be left leaning, or mounted on the wall.

The next option I found for those who like options is the bjorn arch floor mirror from @lifeinteriors. It comes in four different frame colour options – black, white, grey and a beige kinda colour. Again the price is not bad and as I said before, they’ve got so many options. Not just in this style, but they have rectangular mirrors, round mirrors and small arch mirrors so loads of options to lust after!

And speaking of lusting after… if you feel like flexing on the home interior lovers hashtag on the gram, then you’ll like our next pick. Also stocked by @lifeinteriors is the stunning gabriella mirror by @sarahellisonstudio. This option is a bit more of a splurge, but utterly gorgeous and would be totally worth it in my opinion.

If you want a custom mirror then this next option is the one for you. The savannah arched mirror by @salt.x.steel is probably one of the most reposted mirrors on Instagram, and for obvious reasons. Handcrafted in Byron Bay, these gorgeous mirrors can be framed with black, white or gold and made to any size requested. Not gonna lie, but this is potentially my top pick of the lot!

The final pick to round off the list is the custom arched polished-edge mirror by @uniqueframlessglass. Their pieces are all custom made to whatever size you need, and they can deliver and install to Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle. I asked for a quote on an arch mirror similar dimensions to all the options I’ve shared today, and these guys had the best price. So worth inquiring if you’re on a stricter budget!
